Project Description
Matt Johnson is working with Dr. Tony Schmitz to develop a cost estimator for CNC milling operations. Milling cost is estimated using multiple parameters including machining time. This time is typically calculated in CAD/CAM software assuming a constant feed rate, which neglects machine axis acceleration. Acceleration will be considered in this project to more accurately characterize the machining time associated with pocket geometries and pocketing strategies.
